Music and Dance

Josh Whiteland understands that music extends across all cultures and times, and he loves to make both traditional and more modern music. His passion for music is brought out in two separate groups, the Wardandi Binjarup Midar Aboriginal Dance Group and the more contemporary Southern Rhythm Band.

Wardandi Binjarup Midar Aboriginal Dance Group – 1 hour - $800 per performance.
In Aboriginal culture, dance is a powerful medium for teaching traditional stories and sharing ancient lore. Using singing, didgeridoo, tapping sticks, drums and boomerangs, Koomal and his troupe will perform dances such as ‘wetj midar’ the emu hunt, and ‘Wardandi midar’, a power dance Wardandi men used to warn other tribes off their territory.

Southern Rhythm Band – 2-3 hour sets.
Josh and his band play original music in a funky, jazzy blues style that’s perfect for parties, celebrations such as weddings or any other big event. Blending modern instruments such as guitar and drums with traditional didjeridu and percussion, the Southern Rhythm Band is ideal for your next gathering.
